Bentota City Guide
Introduction to Bentota:
Bentota
is everything a tropical paradise should be - miles of golden,
palm-fringed beaches, lapped by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.
The township offers visitors an opportunity to explore Sri Lanka's
natural, cultural and historical riches, at their own pace.
This
sparsely populated beach resort is located in the Galle district 62 kms
south of Colombo. It is a well developed town with several hotels,
railway station, post office, shopping arcade, cafeteria and an open-air
theatre showing folk and mask dancing with clusters of palms overlooking
everything. Bentota is an ideal place from where one can cover many
other resorts along the 130 kms stretch of beach. Resort development
here has taken immense strides.
At Bentota, you can safari at the Yala wild Life Park, go boating or
indulge in various other water sports, explore the coral reefs in a
glass boat, visit historical sights and release three-day-old turtle
hatchlings into the sea.
